Photo Distortions
Here's some images from my 2005 show; Photo Distortions.
What are Photo Distortions?
Photography is a tool of my trade. As an artist I am always exploring new media and learning new techniques. This work was created by manipulating digital photographs with Photoshop.
Below is a video showing over 60 Photo Distortions. Please click to play and maximise to full view;
I like the idea of creating something unique from something simple. Changing. Altering. Creating Fantasy. In some ways I see these images as the total opposite to the work of so many contemporary purist photographers.
I printed the work on vinyl and mounted them on sheet metal in various sizes up to 1200mm x 800mm. The show was held indoors and outdoors. A little house in Waterford city, now my studio, played host to the indoor work. I showed the outdoor work across the road on the railings of the Infirmary.
Media coverage for the show was mediocre until two pictures were stolen. This made the front pages of the local papers. I was honoured when Waterford city council bought Joe's Room for the municipal art collection.
I have produced versions of these images up to 3 metres wide, on vinyl and on canvas. If there's something you like contact me to discuss.
