Here's Eddie Skelton's email that accompanied the picture;

The face of the city, I thought.

I know - I'll get a picture of the face of the old Jesus who kneels in the centre of the frieze on the facade of the cathedral and keeps watching over all the lovely catholics. We all know he's there but how many stop to give him a wave.

So today I happened to have the camera with me for another reason and my wife decided to visit Boots. So I spent ages steadying myself at full zoom to get his face. And what a surprise!

Is it me or is he winking? Either he has both eyes closed, in which case he is not watching over anybody or there is a definite wink happening and that's a bit erm...odd.
